From time to time, teachers arrange educational visits in connection with school work. Parents are always informed in advance of any visits and must give their approval for their child to participate (a permission slip is sent out at the start of each school year).
Children in Years 4 and 6 will usually be given the opportunity to take part in a residential trip at some stage in the school year. Parents will be asked to contribute towards the cost of these visits and your support is very much appreciated. Charging policy
Most trips and visits can be paid for online please visit www.scopay.com and log in with your unique username and password. If you haven’t registered yet please contact the school office where you will receive an introductory letter and a link to get registered.
The Year 4 trip is a 2-night residential stay at Kilve Court, Somerset and takes place in January.
Year 6 residential visits are more varied and have in the past been a visit to London, Charterhouse (Mendips) or one of the many PGL outdoor activity sites.
In order to broaden the cultural awareness of the children we regularly seek to develop international links with schools from other countries. These involve staff visiting schools in other countries to experience different educational systems, as well as us hosting teachers from other countries, who then meet and share their cultures with our children.
In recent years we have worked with the British Council to set up a partnership with a school in Zambia and are currently involved with an ‘Art Travellers’ Comenius Project with 5 other European countries. Each school involves their children in learning about different artists in these different countries and to take part in joint art projects. In December 2013 our school hosted 16 teachers from these different countries.
