Sex education in the primary school falls into two curriculum areas; science and PSHE education.

Staff will answer questions asked by children of any age factually, honestly and simply.

Emphasis throughout will be put on moral issues and respect for one another.

Children learn about reproduction in plants and animals in science. In their final years at the school more explicit sex education may be given as part of a PSHE programme. Parents will be informed when this is to take place and may see the teaching materials beforehand.

Parents may withdraw their child from all or part of sex education.

The school’s policy has been approved by the governing body, which includes parents.
