If there is anything we should know in respect of your child’s health, please let us know. It is particularly important that we know of any medical problems or allergies.

Giving medicine

Following advice received from the local authority, we are unable to give children medicine unless they are prescribed by a doctor and the parents complete and sign a request form. These forms are available from the school office. A new form must be completed every time a course of medication is necessary.

Parents are most welcome to visit school to administer medicines should they wish to do so.

Diarrhoea or sickness

If your child has diarrhoea or sickness, please keep him/her at home for 48 hours after the illness has passed.

Home is always better than school if a child is ill.

Incidents at school

Accidents happen in school from time to time. Simple first aid will be administered by a member of staff who has followed a first-aid course. However, should the child need more than simple patching up then action will be taken to ensure that the necessary medical attention is sought.

If your child has an accident or is taken ill, we will contact you as quickly as possible. Please ensure that we have an up-to-date emergency contact number.

Head lice

Head lice are an ongoing problem within schools. Using a lice comb after conditioning once a week and daily combing (not just brushing) along with parents being vigilant is found to be the most effective way of keeping head lice at bay.
