Welcome to year 3 Larch class.
Curriculum Letter Autumn 2018
Larch Class – Autumn Term 2
I hope that you all had a restful break and ready for the countdown to Christmas!
Here’s a few things to update you for this term. There is also additional information on the topic overview ‘Raging Rivers’ so please ensure you read this too!
Daily routine: The children will now be coming in the side door (the same door they leave at the end of the day). This is to increase the children’s independence, although many of them have been coming in on their own already! I will be in the classroom settling them and getting things ready for the day. If you need to discuss anything, you can book an appointment at the office, or ask them to pass on a message.
Reading: Well done to those children who read at home on a regular basis and many thanks to the parents who have given up some of their time to hear the children read. Any volunteers are most welcome either at the beginning or end of the day – you’re welcome to just turn up! Please ensure that your child is continuing to read at least three times a week, even if they are reading to themselves, and it is recorded in their book.
PE: As the weather is getting colder, please ensure that your child has the appropriate PE kit in school and they have some warm alternatives when we are outside.
Spellings: The children are loving the new Spelling Shed – I have already seen a great improvement in their spellings – long may this continue! They can access this at home through the link that is on their login: this is found in the front of the Home Learning book. Spellings will continue to be issued every Friday and can be found in their Home Learning book also. I update the Spelling Shed list each week with their new spellings as well as revising old ones too!
Times Tables: We are regularly testing and playing games in class to help the children learn their times tables. By the end of year 2, they should know their 2, 5 and 10s and in year 3 we teach them their 3, 4 and 8s. Please allow them time to practise their tables at home as they are a crucial aspect of maths.
Kingston Exotics: As per the letter before half term, we have Kingston Exotics coming in on Friday 23rd November. Please ensure that you have paid for this via ScoPay as soon as possible.
We are looking forward to a fun packed half term!
