Assessment begins in reception and continues throughout your child’s school career, including reading and spelling tests.

Throughout the reception year, children will be assessed using the early years foundation stage guidance and discussion with parents. This provides information to plan appropriate learning activities for your child.
In Year 1, all children are required to sit the Government’s phonics screening check. This entails each child reading a variety of words.
Statutory assessment tasks (SATs)
In Years 2 and 6 all children have to be tested using statutory assessment tasks (SATs) and the data is compiled in league tables.
We use end-of-year SATs materials provided for years 3, 4 and 5 to help with our assessment of children’s progress and other in-house materials throughout the year.
All children will receive an annual written report on their progress, towards the end of the summer term.
